Wedding receptions are always a magical event that celebrates the love between two people. However, in order to look magical, apart from the chemistry of bride and the groom that fills up the room, a lot of patience, attention to details and hard work need to be invested in decorating the place. The central part of the decor is the wedding centrepieces which are essential to jazz up the reception hall. Some stand out, others add uniqueness and the "wow factor" to the place. There are different centrepieces vessels that are used to create such a magical atmosphere, and also, there are different styles in which a wedding reception hall can be arranged. Here is a look at the ins and outs of the wedding centrepieces

The vessels are very important to create a certain look. Using them to display your flowers makes all the difference as they come in a wide range of shapes and sizes and in different styles. Thus, selecting the style that best suits your wedding theme is key. Therefore, you can choose a compote which is a goblet-shaped with a pedestal, a wide and shallow low pan vase, a trumpet vase which looks like a champagne flute, a bell jar which is a glass case that covers the arrangement, or a rose bowl in a shape like a fishbowl. Furthermore, there is a column vase which is straight and cylindrical or a hurricane vase which is wide and deep. You can choose a ginger jar which comes in blue or white and is actually a porcelain urn or a trophy vase shaped like a trophy with two handles.

Apart from the vessels for flowers, you can find other wedding centrepieces that boost the ambience. For example, votive candles with holders, mirrors, Chinese floating paper candle lanterns, heart-shaped crystals, chandeliers, wedding bird cages and many others. In combination with the right lighting and flowers, these wedding centrepieces can transform the reception hall into a place from the fairytales.

One of the styles you can create with wedding centrepieces is rustic. It is usually chosen if the wedding takes place near an outdoor setting where most of the decorations will be taken care of by the beautiful scenery. It gives an earthy feeling of the beautiful forests and gardens. What characterizes this style is the unstructured shapes, found-in-the-wild fillers, wicker baskets, metal tins or wood containers and mixed textures.

Another magical style is the classic wedding centrepiece style which gives a timeless feeling with its neutral colour palette and simple accents. Therefore, light-colour blooms, classic bridal flowers like hydrangeas, roses, baby's breath and tulips, a structured design, medium to small-sized arrangements and understated cases or urns is what makes the classic style a favourite.

Next is the modern style which is characterised firstly by the venue (an art gallery or a lounge)  and then by the trendy centrepieces. In this style, single centrepieces are replaced with clusters of centrepieces displayed in varying heights. The most common elements of the modern styles are the exotic flowers, square or rectangular vases, minimalistic approach, very little greenery but lots of vibrant colours and an architectural feel.

The glamorous style is the synonym of the "wow factor" which exists to impress and drop some jaws. All the arrangements are dramatic and are similar to the regal and historic settings. For achieving the effect of this style, big, ornate centrepieces are needed and practicality is a factor that is overlooked. Large, full and cascading shapes, crystal embellishments and multiple colours in one arrangement are what is needed.

Finally, the vintage style which has the lace as the basic ingredient in creating the style as well as accessories from with an antique significance. If you are a DIY bride, pay attention to details when re-creating an authentic vintage ambience as some pieces might look a little too faux-antique or upcycled and you will lose the vintage visual interest. You should go for a muted colour palette, low vases, footed trays or compote bowls and antique props like clocks, books, old-school bottles etc.
