The Purpose of 4 Wheel Drive Accessories and How They Improve Your Ride

While crazy modifications and complex accessories aren't as important when it comes to pimping up your 4 wheel drive, a decent set of accessories will make your 4x4 experience better. If you just got your new 4x4 vehicle, it's important to prepare it for off-roading, as you will probably test it out and see for yourself anyway. So, it is a good rule of thumb to get a set of solid accessories depending on your off-roading needs in order to avoid costly repairs afterwards.

Comfort
Obviously, there isn't much comfort when you are going up and down or through bumpy and uneven terrain, but at least with some accessories you can reduce the uncomfortable head bumps to a more reasonable level. A well worth investment here are neoprene seats, as they are not part of the stock 4 wheel drive accessories, and if you really want to go full-on comfort, try getting an awning for a more comfortable camping experience.

Safety
There are mods and accessories such as a bull bar or a fire extinguisher that improve the safety not only for you but for the vehicle and environment around you. Things like cargo barriers and snatch straps can help you safely transport heavy loads and get your vehicle out of a big muddy puddle. Lights are also important too and while the ones that come already equipped on your 4x4 aren't that bad, an aftermarket LED's will make you feel like an owl in the night.

Functionality
Talking about LED lights, you should consider installing a strip of LED lights along the middle on your vehicle's roof for a more illuminating experience. No matter the type of journey you usually go on, a set of back drawers will make more things accessible to you and keep them protected from the elements as well. One of the most helpful 4 wheel drive accessories is the reverse camera, and yes you are going to feel knackered after installing it but as a reward, you'll have another set of eyes at the back.

Money
A good thing to consider here is that in the long-term, every single accessory you get will pay off with time and you will even end up saving some money too. For example, if you get a long range fuel tank, not only will you be able to store more fuel, but you will completely replace small and inefficient fuel stations. The same can be said about the snorkel as well as a new exhaust system - they can help with the air flow and also lower fuel consumption whilst reducing emissions.
